Council for Aluminium in Building

The Council aims to support the interests of the architectural aluminium industry by encouraging the increasing use of aluminium products in architecture and in the construction industry as a whole. Members are involved in all stages of construction, extrusion and design of systems, fabrication of products, finishing, production of associated products and final installation on site.

They work to process and recycle 100% of the material they receive, supporting their clients’ targets to achieve zero waste to landfill. Clients include local authorities, health or financial businesses, academic organisations and manufacturing companies.


Ecocetera is a Bristol based renewable energy company specialising in solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. They install for home owners and businesses in the south west, enabling system owners to reduce their use of fossil fuels and their energy bills.


WaterAid is an international non governmental organisation, with a mission  to transform lives by improving access to safe water, improved hygiene and sanitation in the world’s poorest communities. They work with local partners, who understand local issues, and provide them with the skills and support to help communities set up and manage practical and sustainable projects that meet their real needs. They also campaign to change policy and practice.  

Cotswold Canal Trust

The Cotswold Canals Trust intends to restore the 36 mile canal corridor to link the Rivers Severn and Thames. This will result in: preserving and bringing alive the industrial heritage; creating a 36 mile environmental corridor; healthy living through exercise and connecting with nature; bringing money into the area; creating a better place to live; and creating volunteering and training opportunities.    

The University of Gloucestershire Students’ Union

The Students’ Union at the University of Gloucestershire aims to enhance a students’ university experience whilst they study and live at our University.  We are passionate about leading the way for sustainability; students can get involved in growing veg at our allotment, developing ethical business skills in one of our social enterprises or helping ‘green’ local businesses.

Vision 21

Vision 21 is an independent sustainability charity focused on Gloucestershire. It is as much a social organisation as it is an environmental one, helping people to improve their quality of life as well as their living environment. Our projects include furniture re-use, community food projects, sustainability campaigns, waste and recycling awareness, energy reduction initiatives and unwanted paint re-use.

National Apprenticeship Service

The National Apprenticeship Service focuses on increasing the number of apprentices in England. We work with employers to help them introduce apprentices into their businesses; we help young people looking to start their careers to find an Apprenticeship opportunity. We can advise/support on the range of Apprenticeships, any costs involved and the benefits.

Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust

In working to protect the county's wildlife and wild places, we manage over 60 nature reserves for the benefit of rare species such as the large blue butterfly, water vole and meadow clary. We educate and inspire through our events, school visits and volunteering, getting people closer to wildlife.

Global Village Energy Partnership

GVEP (Global Village Energy Partnership) works with local businesses in developing countries to increase access to modern energy and to improve the quality of lives for thousands of people. To date, over four million people have benefited from our programmes. GVEP will be demonstrating Briquettes, a viable and low cost alternative to environmentally damaging fuels such as firewood, kerosene and charcoal.

Europe Direct Gloucestershire is one of a network of Europe Direct Information Centres (EDICs) across the European Union. Based at the Global Language Immersion Centre (GLIC) in the centre of Gloucester, the EDIC provides information, advice and publications on the European Union.
