Oakland International specialises in UK and Ireland retail food distribution, employs over 210 people, with group sales of around £21m and handling around 800,000 cases of food per week. Based in Redditch, Worcestershire, the company has built its reputation on strong community values and environmental credentials, scooping a number of awards for its initiatives over the last 10 years.
We are a local brewery passionate about our craft and provenance. With 20 years of brewing under our hat (or what we call our coke) we have created a fine range of award-winning beers which proudly sit under the Hobsons name. Sling Prints is a young business, aiming to link the fashion world with the arts, collaborating with local artists in creating new T-shirt designs. We're involved in promoting artists, exhibiting their work and bringing it closer to the community.
University of Worcester
Andy Stevenson is a Senior Lecturer in Design at the University of Worcester and teaches both sustainable packaging design and children's book design to degree level students (see gdes3003tutor.blogspot.co.uk for details). He's also an incurable foodie and is passionate about promoting and raising the profile of local foods and produce in the region with his other 'hat' running his online Facebook Community "Local Food Lunches". Andy has managed to mix these two areas of interest this year and has been supervising a group of students on a project to develop working prototype concepts for a potential title evolved between him and local partners called "The Family Sustainable Cookbook".

Evesham Vale Growers
Evesham Vale Growers (EVG) farms 2500 acres in Worcestershire growing a range of salad and vegetable crops destined for major UK supermarkets. More recently the business has moved into the renewable energy sector with two anaerobic digestion units and a solar farm, producing gas and electricity for the National Grid. By products of this process such as carbon dioxide and heat are used in greenhouses. The company is unique in the UK in that all their tomato production is grown hydroponically in recirculating water, reducing water and fertilizer usage by up to a third.
BigBarn is the leading local food website with a mission to reconnect food producers with local consumers and encourage trade and communication. Solar ovens cost £2 to make and last 3 months with no fuel bills. We will be asking the student Dragon’s to invest in vital education which will spread the use of solar ovens in Africa and, hence, enhance reforestation.

Establis is a European interdisciplinary research and training network. It aims to develop materials and techniques for long-lived, cheap and flexible organic solar cells and building-integrated large scale applications.

One Creative Environments Ltd. is an award winning multi-disciplinary design team comprising architecture, landscape architecture, masterplanning, civil and structural engineering, building services and interior design. 360° thinking is what makes One different. It describes the integrated way we work and the collaborative way we approach every project. One will be pitching Green Skywalk, which is a project to turn the disused viaduct running along the railway bridge in Worcester into accessible green infrastructure, similar to “The High Line Sky Park” in New York, which now attracts more than 4 million visitors a year.
Tata Motors is India’s largest fully integrated automotive company and has worldwide operations, including Jaguar Land Rover and Tata Motors European Technical Centre plc (TMETC). TMETC aim to drive the technology and quality of future Tata Motors vehicles, including sustainable vehicle development. Tata will be discussing their electric and hydrogen vehicles.

Worcester Roots Foundation
Worcester Roots Foundation is a youth led environmental charity for young people aged 16-25 living in Worcestershire. Our aim is to raise awareness of environmental and sustainability issues through the actions of young people in a fun and enjoyable way. These include setting up a food co-op, national awareness campaigns and promoting the green job market.
Worcestershire County Council
The County Council is run by elected Councillors who are responsible for ensuring the services provided by the Council meet the needs of residents and business within Worcestershire. The Council is working hard to help tackle the effects of climate change and related issues to create a county that is an environmentally, economically and socially sustainable place to live, work and visit. The Council work to the Carbon Management Plan to reduce its own carbon emissions; Resilience Action Plan to make the Council more resilient to future climate change; and coordinate the Worcestershire Partnership Climate Change Task Group and Worcestershire Climate Change Strategy, amongst other things.

Caplor Energy is a rural business based in Fownhope, Herefordshire. We promote a positive environmental message by inspiring businesses, homeowners and communities to install renewable energy systems. We specialise in solar PV, solar thermal, biomass and heat pump systems and only install high quality, dependable products. We have installed several renewable energy systems on site which power the offices, farm house and farm buildings and welcome people to come and take a tour.
John Pooley runs an international energy, carbon & environmental management consultancy for over 20 years from Worcestershire. John originally trained as an engineer and following work with a major accounting firm also qualified as a management consultant. John’s green work has taken him as far afield as Canada, Russia the Philippines and the Caribbean. John is also STEM Ambassador.
