Green Credentials
We think that it is important to organise the event in as green a way as possible. So far we have done the following:

Website
It is estimated that you use 20mg of CO2 every time you visit a website. The more whistle and bells on the site the higher this gets - up to 300mg of CO2 per second for one video content. So running an avatar in Second Life uses more electricity than a live person in Brazil. That's why we are powering our website from solar panels.

Email not Printing
Rather than send letters and print promotional information we try to email people as much as possible. This is a simple (and cost effective!) way to be green. When we do have to print things we use environmental printers such as Severnprint.

Electricity and Transport.
Cecily works from home and her house is powered from 100% renewable sources. She also recycles everything she can and whenever possible walks or cycles to meetings. Bob also works from home and his electrics are green tariff and his hot water is solar. Rachel works from SWEA which has their electricity supply form 100% renewable sources. However, they use very little electricity as they have 5.9 Kw PV array. SWEA also recycle everything they can, have all their peripheries on time switches and a folding bike for staff use and a policy on staff transport which means the most sustainable option for travel should always be considered.

Banner
Our promotional banner is constructed from Polyban, a strong lightweight material which is 100% recyclable (inc the eyelets).
