Designing a sustainable urban environment.

In a nutshell

Increasingly architects, planners, builders and engineers need to think about the sustainability of construction materials, methods of construction and energy performance.

Adapted for each event so that it has a local flavour, this workshop looks at the built environment and the role sustainability has in the design of an urban area.

Our Solihull event sees students work to redevelop the HS2 interchange site at Arden Cross, looking at housing, business, recreation and transport. In the West of England students look at the challenges of future ‘megacities’, notably the big question of how will cities feed themselves in the future, creating 2D and 3D city plans with space for locally grown food.

I loved getting involved and sharing my opinions about having a green future, and interacting with people who are currently working to make the world a greener place.
